Omanās Role in the Arab League
Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Rahbi, Omanās Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, emphasized the importance of the Arab League as a unifying force. He reaffirmed Oman’s dedication to strengthening the Leagueās influence in regional and international affairs.
Oman plays a key role in political, economic, and cultural matters within the Arab League. It consistently advocates dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolutions. The country also works to bridge gaps among Arab nations, promoting cooperation over conflict.
Strategic Vision for a Stronger Arab League
Al-Rahbi highlighted the need for consensus-building in Arab policies. He stressed that aligning national strategies with broader Arab interests is crucial.
A strategic document is under development to refine joint Arab action and modernize the Leagueās framework. The plan includes integrating digital technologies to enhance communication, decision-making, and economic cooperation.
Additionally, he called for a mediation system to resolve disputes efficiently. This approach would protect mutual interests while avoiding unnecessary bureaucratic delays.
Economic Integration for Arab Prosperity
Sheikh Faisal bin Omar Al-Marhoon, Head of the Arab Affairs Department at Omanās Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized economic cooperation. He stressed the importance of key projects like the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, electrical connectivity, and food security. Enhancing maritime and land transport is also a priority.
These initiatives aim to strengthen investment exchanges, improve market access, and drive economic growth. Additionally, they would enhance regional mobility, supporting industries, tourism, and trade. The Arab worldās vast cultural and economic potential would be better utilized.
Oman’s Longstanding Commitment to Arab Unity
For over five decades, Oman has played an active role in Arab diplomacy. It has participated in every Arab summit from the 1973 Algiers Summit to the 2025 Cairo Summit.
The Sultanate prioritizes Arab solidarity in its foreign policy. It believes regional coordination and consultation are essential for navigating global challenges.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik reaffirmed this vision in his speech on January 11, 2020. He stated: āOn the Arab front, we will continue to support the Arab League. We will work with our brothers, the leaders of Arab countries, to achieve its goals. Our aim is to elevate the lives of our citizens, distance this region from conflicts, and promote economic integration that serves Arab aspirations.ā
With a commitment to balance and wisdom, Oman continues to champion unity, economic development, and peace in the Arab world.
